How to write a good dedication
The dedication is the shortest part of the book and the most read. One sentence, two at most. Everyone who opens the book sees it, which is exactly why a detail only the two of you know beats a general good wish.
- Write a detail, not an adjective. Not “you are so special”, but the thing she always says in the kitchen.
- Keep it short. A long dedication spends the moment the cover just bought you.
- Read it out loud. If it is odd to say, it is odd to read.

How long can a dedication be?

Should I write it myself?
