Which photos work best

The only style that positively likes a damaged photograph. Scratches, creases and heavy grain read as age rather than as flaws. Black-and-white originals need no apology here, and a formal portrait works better than a candid one.

How it differs from Pencil Sketch

Questions about this style

Is everything in sepia?

The palette stays narrow on purpose, warm browns and paper tones, because the effect depends on it. If you want the restraint without the aged look, minimalist line art is the closer fit.

Does it suit a child's book?

Rarely as the main story, often as a gift to a grandparent about a child. The register is adult, and children usually want more colour than this style is willing to give.
